AB Student Leadership Conference 2022

  • Camp Caroline Caroline, Alberta Canada (map)

The ACSI Student Activities Program seeks to encourage and inspire students toward a standard of excellence in leadership, communication, and performance by enhancing the academic and fine arts education program of the Christian school. It provides opportunity for the practical application and development of skills necessary for confident Christian leadership. Each activity is planned to impact the educational and spiritual growth of each student, encouraging them to be a testimony to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each event also seeks to provide opportunity for Christian fellowship and positive interaction between students and teachers of participating schools.

THEME

A Hope–Filled Vision for the Future

When you think of hope, what comes to mind? For most people, hope is like a wish that a child makes before they blow out the candles on their birthday cake. Hope is wishful thinking or a strong desire for something positive to happen. In the New Testament, the word “hope” appears over 50 times but it means something radically different than wishful thinking. It is a confident expectation of the future that allows us to face it with joy and peace.

We will explore how we can cultivate that kind of hope–filled vision for the future. A hope that allows us to navigate whatever the future holds with joy and peace, even as crises like pandemics and war rock the world around us.

Keynote Speaker

Randy Carter has a passion for student ministry, in fact he says. ”Why would anyone choose to work with adults when they can work with students?” His unique blend of humour and direct approach to truth allows him to captivate the listener and drive home the truth in a relevant and meaningful way. Randy served for 11 years as a youth pastor before founding STM Ministries in 1993 where he continues to pursue his calling.

Keynote Sessions

The four keynote sessions will explore scripture to examine the 5 spiritual disciplines that Jesus incorporated into His life: Surrender, Sabbath, Solitude, Spiritual Friendships, and Service. When we incorporate these disciplines into our lives, they produce a life of hope, joy and peace—even in the face of significant hardship and challenges. 1 John 2:6 says, “Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus Did.” (NLT)

Workshops

In addition to the four keynote sessions and leadership training activities, students will be given the opportunity to attend two workshops of their choice. This year, the workshops being offered are:
