Saskatchewan Professional Development Day 2023 will focus on creating great learning experiences for our students. This is accomplished through a commitment to the latest and most reliable research about effective student learning. Current research shows that optimal learning happens when there is a combination of direct instruction by a more knowledgeable mentor (a teacher), as well as carefully constructed exploratory encounters in the classroom amongst peers. Classroom teaching should not only emphasize the students' academic aptitude, but also envision guidance for the whole personhood focused on values and principles, such as those steeped in biblical worldview. At this professional development day, insights into creating optimal learning encounters in the classroom will be discussed.
