Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated High School Math Teacher to join our team at Valley Christian Academy. The ideal candidate will teach high school math courses, integrate a Christian worldview into the curriculum, and be committed to student growth both academically and spiritually. Applicants must be eligible for accreditation with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education and demonstrate a strong Christian faith. Active involvement in extracurricular programs is also encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery:
Teach high school Math subjects, with the opportunity to offer electives, in a way that reflects a Christian worldview. This includes ensuring students grasp mathematical concepts and can apply them in real-life situations.
Be able to offer a range of math courses in alignment with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education Curriculum.
Develop and implement engaging lessons that incorporate 21st-century learning skills and critical thinking.
Pedagogy and Instructional Practices:
Use appropriate teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including differentiated instruction and inquiry-based learning.
Utilize a variety of assessment strategies to monitor student progress, provide feedback, and next steps.
Develop individual learning plans when necessary to ensure all students can succeed and reach their full potential.
Foster an environment of active learning where students engage in collaborative problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and communication.
Spiritual Integration and Christian Worldview:
Integrate the Christian faith into the teaching of mathematics, helping students understand how their studies can reflect and honor their relationship with God.
Model and promote an active Christian life, ensuring the school’s Christian values are woven throughout classroom activities, discussions, and interactions with students.
Be willing to contribute to the school’s community and support the spiritual development of students through prayer and involvement in school-wide activities.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work collaboratively with other faculty members to align teaching strategies, share best practices, and contribute to the overall school culture.
Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives.
Display a strong capacity to collaborate with colleagues, including other subject area teachers, support staff, and leadership, in achieving the school’s academic and spiritual goals.
Extracurricular Involvement:
Actively participate in extracurricular programs such as athletics, drama, music, or clubs, enhancing the overall student experience at Valley Christian Academy.
Serve as a positive role model for students both inside and outside of the classroom.
Planning, Assessment, and Feedback:
Plan and deliver lessons that are not only academically rigorous but also foster critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.
Implement a variety of formative and summative assessments to gauge student progress and inform future teaching strategies.
Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and exams, fostering a growth mindset in all students.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Desired Attributes:
Educational Background: A degree in education, with a specialization in Math, or equivalent certification.
Saskatchewan Accreditation: The successful candidate must be eligible for accreditation with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education and able to teach high school mathematics in alignment with provincial standards.
